The renovation and restoration of a one-hundred-year-old, three-story building in the West End section of Pittsburgh to provide office and showroom space for a series of companies was the project awarded to Golba and Associates - Architecture. The work included the restoration and accentuation of original architectural details on the building's facade. The design of the second floor offices incorporate a playful architectonic approach. Arches expressed on the building facade are reinterpreted on internal walls and help draw people through the space, terminating in a formalized stairway leading to a

balcony office. Detailing in the project is very simple, minimizing its cost, yet strengthened through the selective use of exaggerated forms and primary colours. The architectural detailing is highlighted by the specific use of colour on ceiling mouldings, doors and door frames, window frames, mullions, and shutters. Each area was designed to showcase the services and products offered by each of the companies located within the building, and the final product resulted in greater productivity and more volume for each operating group within the building.
